Right now, the 2012 North American International Auto Show is taking place. Next month, global audiences get a look at even more concepts thanks to the Geneva Motor Show. There, Infiniti will showcase a new Electric Car Concept. They brought teaser photos out to reporters, taking a few questions in Detroit prior to its official debut.

The Japanese auto maker is calling it a 'range-extended electric sports car' concept. The image shown hints at a curved design language, maybe even more intense than current Infiniti models from Charles Barker Infiniti in Virginia Beach, VA.

Few details were given out, but it sounds as though the hybrid/electric drivetrain will be focused more on performance than fuel economy.

"The sports-car concept will be the first Infiniti to have not only a range-extender drivetrain, but also one mounted in a mid-ship package for optimal weight distribution and therefore handling," said Infiniti.¹

Infiniti also said that the currently unnamed concept shows "a change in vocabulary for Infiniti's design language. "The purpose of the Geneva concept is to explore what might be the next stage in how to deliver a vivid, engaging and sophisticated driving experience from an electrically propelled vehicle".²
